About Us

For the expansion of the business and for colonisation, the British and the Portuguese marked their entry in Mumbai mainly for Black Pepper and other Spices during ancient times. It is believed that Mumbai during that time was under the rule of Sultan of Gujarat. British within no time took over the control of Mumbai with the consent of Sultan. Later Mumbai came completely under the control of British East India Company, when the British King Charles ii married to the princess of Portugal, Catherine. The hardworking Keralites from the god’s own country who are visible even in the moon and planets, also possessed somewhat the same attitude of Portuguese in establishing a strong association for their welfare. During the year 1930, theere existed a group of Keralite Muslims, disseminating their welfare programmes under the guidance of Mr. A.K Sarang, in the name of Malabar Muslim Jama-ath. After undergoing frequent splits and re-unions, ups and downs, subsequently, Bombay Kerala Muslim Jamaath began to work in full fledged manner in the year 1948, the year after Indian Independence. Now it is leafing through the pages of six and half decades of success in the service of humanity, with five branches in different parts of Mumbai with its offices at Bandra, Worli, Nagpada, Dharavi and Wadala. The name of Jama-ath became more prominent after the famous Dongri Kaiser Baug public meeting in the year 1955 which was chaired by the famous scholar and muslim leader C.H Mohammed Koya Saheb.

Our Service crosses all the Boundaries...

The main highlight of Jama-ath is that they cater to the needs of all people irrespective of the caste and affiliations, though its name reflects to a particular community. They offer their shoulders without any bias and renders help for 24 hours a day and 365 days a year by providing shelter and food for the needy and helpless Keralites, or Gulf passengers who gets stuck in the Railway Stations and Airport. In case of passengers subjected to looting or any type of harassments by the police and the other authorities, the Jama-ath becomes active and vigilant by taking up the matter with higher officials. With our immediate interference, two police constables were arrested and suspended from the service; who looted gulf returnees from the railway stations. An efficient squad is maintained at important railway stations and Airports and hence we keep an Eagle eye upon every atrocity. It was pathetic to watch the horrible condition of Gulf expatriates, who returned to railway stations and Airports of India as a result of Gulf War, without food and water for days together. As a part of our service; food and water were distributed for many days after arranging special relief counters at various Airport and Railway Stations.
